The retirement home visit as part of the Erasmus+ Project was very instructive for me personally. The elderly lady, whom I was lucky to get to know, shared very open stories about her past as a woman in Europe. She told us about her youth as a Jew in Hitler Germany, her escape to Sweden and how she later made her experiences as a businesswoman in the global trade. She also commented on present topics such as migration, which she wholeheartedly supported, as she once too was a refugee and had to start over as a young person in Europe. She was very kind and we never really ran out of topics to talk about. While she was open to any experience we could share with her, we were interested in any story she had in store for us.

Having already stayed there two and a half hours longer than we had planned to and having eaten all the biscuits, my friend and I left her flat filled with pride in our common achievements as a united Europe, and at the same time with the urge to pursue this ideology and actively make the world a better place. I am very grateful for this experience.
